There's a land afloat in the gulf, going nowhere anymore ever since the break of calm
and the passengers can't row ashore, so the crowd's longing for the next hurricane to come.
You can sail in a whole new direction, or decide to go nowhere at all.
See the houses lining the water, by the wrinkly reflection their future's foretold,
the warm roll of drums can be heard everywhere round the world, still the answer is cold
You can sail in a whole new direction, or decide to go nowhere at all.
When your life's course needs correction, and it's anchored for too long by doubt
taking chances, taking action, that's what every change is about
I'm a watcher from the mainland, hardly lending a hand, maybe just came to call
searching sun but saw shadows growing, there's a price to be paid for not moving at all.
You can sail in a whole new direction, or decide to go nowhere at all.
You can sail in a whole new direction, or decide to go nowhere at all.
When your life's course needs correction, and it's anchored for too long by doubt
taking chances, taking action, that's what every change is about
And the winds will travel so fiercely, waves lashing the wood when the hungry sharks appear
they will be greedy and taking, can the sailors survive between claimed and forsaken
You can sail in a whole new direction, or decide to go nowhere at all.
There's a land afloat in the gulf, going nowhere anymore ever since the break of calm
see a passenger rowing ashore couldn't wait anymore for a hurricane to come ...

Baby, sleep now, mama's gonna hold you tight
Baby Jesus, don't wake up 'til morning light
Just a little baby to adore
ignorant of what life holds in store
Baby sleep now, mama's gonna hold you tight
We are human, make mistakes for sure
What you teach 'bout love dear, we'll ignore
Like your care for lonely sick and poor
Baby, sleep now, mama's gonna hold you tight
Baby Jesus, don't wake up 'til morning light
All the world's brave leaders, wanting more
seeking wealth and power they'll start wars
that's what they'll abuse your good name for
mmmmm......
mmmmmmmmmmmm ...
It's a heavy load child, being you
but some of the good works you will do
shall be long remembered, that is true
Baby, sleep now, mama's gonna hold you tight
Baby Jesus, don't wake up 'til morning light
Just a little baby to adore
ignorant of what life holds in store
Baby sleep now, mama's gonna hold you tight
Baby sleep now, mama's gonna hold you tight

Days in fall, nothing seems wrong
life is going beautifully well
sun sings her warmest song
mood falls like red leaves fell
Bluish gray rings every sound,
splendor's dimmed, eyes act blind
dashed hope like when you found
summer birds, the saddest kind
Grounded by a rain shower
unable to take off and fly
Grounded by a rain shower
that's how you feel now,
will it ever get by
will it ever get by
Heavy gloomy desperation,
wonder why and how it came
How to strip off this sensation
kill–joy, spoils the game
Grounded by a rain shower
unable to take off and fly
Grounded by a rain shower
that's how you feel now,
will it ever get by
will it ever get by

Take the riverboat, go with the flow
leave the empty town behind
sing a song in the afternoon show
birds guide us on the wind's sigh
Crack of dawn, 'twas the shortest night
fire in the air and a slumbering moon
A fading whisper up there outside
silent adventurers in a big balloon
Here we are, there they go
there's no boundary just a season
free and drifting far away, far away from reason
This is home cause here's my heart
sheltered by a warm embrace
but in dreams I sometimes start
running from this familiar place
Here we are, there I go
there's no boundary just a season
free and drifting far away, far away from reason

Long time ago, in the mind of a scared man lacking in self–respect, Liar was born
Made up a life for himself and he gathered so much attention, he would have sworn
his' was the real world, he felt no guilt, surviving and handling whatever was failing
Harvesting pity, telling uncountable sad and disquieting storybook tales
He was just a liar, just another liar
He was just a liar
His make believe life was tormented by hardship, now seems obscene it was all a fake
People he hurt numbed their intuition; found out too late what a mess he would make
All this time Liar cheated on lovers, kept each one dangling on the string of pretend
Liar was lying, knew no way back and the whole situation ran out of hand
Newspaper article, small, on page seven said the judge had convicted a man called L.
not for the lying, not for the swindling, not for the damaging stories he'd tell
Something 'bout money lead to a sentence. This time Liar couldn't fool anyone
Those of us who've known him say he paid a very small price for the great harm he has done.

When you kiss me to start the day
when you wink your eye in a funny way
and I realize nothing's here to stay
When I see you like never before
Oh, then I know that you're
the closest I'll get to for evermore
Hardships came and left scars,
touched our life, signed the years
good times many as stars
built our love, love is here, where you are
Cause you never hide what you believe
and you reach out in hours of grief
I know some day you just might leave
When I see you like never before
Oh, then I know that you're
the closest I'll get to for evermore
Hardships came and left scars,
touched our life, signed the years
good times many as stars
built our love, love is here, where you are
...
Oh, then I know that you're
the closest I'll get to for evermore
Hardships came and left scars,
touched our life, signed the years
good times many as stars
built our love, love is here, where you are

Once, upon a time a man walked on water
once, upon a time man travelled through space
and the world it was a thrilling place where fun and peace existed
fun and peace existed
Once, upon a time trust went without saying
once, upon a time no broken word
Fear and loneliness were banished then and peace of mind existed
and peace of mind existed
or did I get it wrong, did I get things twisted
and is once upon, a time still to come
did I get it wrong, did I get things twisted
and is once upon, a time still to come
Once, upon a time friendship was priceless
once, upon a time caring was for free
when the last of all the wars was over, no one ever missed it
no one ever missed it
or did I get it wrong, did I get things twisted
and is once upon, a time still to come
did I get it wrong, did I get things twisted
and is once upon, a time still to come

Sky–high buildings, appearing in our view
like manmade mountains
Straight and piled shapes, try to escape
this concrete ocean
Our eyes are pulled up to where a thousand lights
later will scrape the sky
The wasteland and the slums down below
are ignored by every passerby
A twelve lane highway delta, is reaching as far as
the vanishing horizon
Our captain is leading, the four wheels upstream
that's the right direction
Outside we wear the air, on our shoulders
like a heavy sun drenched coat
Right here right now all we want to be
is out on the road
This country has no history, they say
but a million histories captured in a song
and while the air conditioner is killing
every feeling that is warm and strong
the line of least resistance
is not to listen, and just sing along, just sing along
We pass another state line and feel the pounding rhythm
of the poorer highway
Silently we notice, black and white are still
separated by a line of Grey
Our thoughts are timed, by the beating sound
of each dividing band
We answer with a heartfelt tune
for each survivor, in this southern land
This country has no history ....

Storm warning in New York, somewhere in the afternoon
we were heading to go on board, of a Staten Island ferry soon
Puzzled we watched a waiting crowd, anxious to cross the waterway
The booking–clerk snapped at us: "That boat's going nowhere today"
Storm warning in New York, the river water swept us wet
and hid the pain for the loss I felt, for what we never had
The sea can't hold the river back, sweet water turns into sea
Not fighting back just letting go, seems the only way to be
From the top of the Empire State to the bottom of the empty grave
left behind since the Towers went, seems like no place can keep you safe
Storm warning in New York, the Staten Island ferry crashed
we were too late to go on board, we were the lucky ones, I guess,
we were the lucky ones, I guess

It's been a good day, a dance in town
and all I want now, is to lay down
this pastel house bids welcome to each guest
Goodnight y'all, in each room, try get some rest
I am happy, I'm closing my eyes and I am not alone
a bit awkward, strangers in twilight zone
The fan is turning, a dog barks his bark
the snoring next–door is splitting the dark
Somehow silence, never sounds so loud
as in a strange place, but there's no doubt
I am happy with this conversation that we haven't had
Let's go to sleep now, strangers as yet
A glass of water, a cracking floor
a few sound sleepers, behind the kitchen door,
rays of dim light between iron bars
half moon up there, fading stars
A brave little Spider is checking us out
high ceilings is what we talk about
and how to get coffee, when and where
giggling over a chaste code we share
waking up I am lingering on every word in my head
no longer strangers, I'm glad we've met,
I'm glad we've met.

I will still give you my love and so much more
I long to caress your body like before
if you'll only say the nightmare's over now
we can still try to be as one again somehow
How I know by heart each line upon your skin
still, I've lately learned that somewhere deep within
there's a you that I have come to dread and fear
why you hurt me so, I can't understand it dear
Don't let go don't give up this fight
help me make it through this cold night
I was hoping one fine day you would see me
as the love of your life, like I long to be
Can you love me like I love you, as you are
don't give up on us now that we have come ...
love me like I love you, as you are
don't give up on us now that we have come this far

Once as a child I got a fine silver locket
protective tokens were concealed on the inside
this given pendant, I kept it in my pocket
not caring too much for what it would hide
No the fascinating part of this little jewel
not the images in it, we learned about in school
But the fascinating part was to open and close
and open and close the shape of a rose.
I was the one to work wonders here
make things vanish and appear, vanish and appear
I just grew up and forgot about the flower
and adulthood had it's own ways to surprise
but a strong sense of magical power
came back to me and I now realized
That the fascinating part of this little jewel
not the images in it, we learned about in school
The fascinating part was to open and close
and open and close my mem'ry like that rose.
I was the one to work wonders here
make things vanish and appear, vanish and appear
the fascinating part of this little jewel
not the images in it, we learned about in school
The fascinating part was to open and close
and open and close my mem'ry like that rose.
I was the one to work wonders here
make things vanish and appear, vanish and appear
